011000 is a result of the reflections derived from Cartemas, by
Aloísio Magalhães, and the possibilities that digital
media and the Internet bring as an artistic tool.
Cartemas, Aloísio’s artistic production, represent
an exchange between art and design, in which formal procedures such
as mirroring, rotation and modulation with postcards can be seen,
generating unique and unusual compositions.
Through a postcard people can visit any place in the world without
leaving home. On 011000, the postcard is linked to the opportunities
that digital media and the Internet have to offer, such as getting
to know a place in real time, through images, sounds or texts, by
means of webcams and online radios and news.
In the same way that Aloísio appropriated postcards to create
artistic compositions, this work appropriates available data on
the Internet to create compositions that engage in conversation
with their own medium. 011000 is an interactive net art, whose combinations
of webcams, news and radios get constantly renewed, for they are
updated in real time. It is a work of art in flux, of transient
updatings, whose images are pieces of a potential composition that
will only be updated through the action of an interactor.
Today, more than ever, multiplicities, be they of time, as well
as of societies, music, languages and alterities, are the data that
establishes and enriches the speedy exchange of information and
communication in cyberspace.
Repetition, cutting, overlapping, mirroring, simultaneity and optical
games are key words that permeate the creation of this work of art.
