"Whenever I hear a plane..."
is a networked live sound piece, that is about the artists phoby on planes that started after 9/ 11. For this work live plane tower comunications from NY JFK, and Boston Logan airport are combined and than being broadcasted over the Internet. This work has a direct reference to 9/11; During that day the planes that have departed from Boston Logan International airport had fly through NY and crashed to the twin towers. Today whenever I hear a plane I still remember that day and all the wars that started afterwards.

Genco Gülan, is an artist and a social critic. He studied Political Science and Art at Bogazici University, Istanbul. Then he pursued an MA degree on Media Studies at New School University, New York. During his studies he focused on new technology and art. He showed his works at AKM Istanbul 1996; Mediaterra, Athens 2000; Museum of Modern Art, Rio 2003 and ZKM, Karlsruhe 2004. His online works had been presented at rhizome.org/ irishmuseumofmodernart.org/ webbiennial.org, and kanonmedia.com. His articles have been published in NY Arts Magazine and Milliyet Sanat. Genco Gulan's name appeared in the required reading list of University of California at Santa Barbara 2002; Hunters College at Buffalo, New York 2003 and Rice University Texas 2005. He currently he lives and works in Istanbul.
