SINOPSE: Much of my work to date has focused upon the relationship of society to the utopian SF promise of new technologies, in particular the seamless interaction between humans and computer systems. From a critical point of view this relationship might be understood as a misguided belief that intelligence resides within the technology itself - rather than as part of a shared and often transparent interaction, between user and technological systems. It is the transparencies contained within these relationships, that I have tried to locate and bring to the fore through the work.
My investigation into the shifting locations of intelligence and meaning which make up this relationship between users and technologies, commonly known as human computer interaction (HCI), forms the major focus of Karaoke me.
