The Madrid based group, Dirty Princess came together as a result
of the intolerable political, social and cultural panorama that
Madrid\'s been suffering in the last few years.
Big Toxic was born in Paris at the beginning of the situationist
revolt In 1965 and has been influenced musically by the roots of
modern electronic music from seminal artists like Depeche Mode,
Kraftwerk to the experimental German group DAF. His professional
career began as a taxi driver back in 1989 when he had the opportunity
to play his music to Alaska and Dinarama. Since that decisive moment
his career as musical producer has gone from strength to strength.
With more than a 100 remixes under his belt for the corrupt Spanish
Music industry, Big Toxic is a controversial figure in the eyes
of the major labels. After his Bill Clinton remix of La Macarena,
which made more than ?18 million, although Toxic only receives ?600,
he challenges the music industry\'s reluctance to recognize the
editorial rights for the remixers of modern electronic music production.
In 1994, Big Toxic is invited to write and perform music for the
radical Catalan theatre group, La Fura dels baus.
In 1987 with his friend Leandro Gamez?, they set up their own record
label Audiodrome. The move for greater independence allows Big Toxic
to release more experimental styles like drum n bass under the name,
Smol Tosi.
It\'s during these years that Big Toxic meets video artist and
video jockey, Nikky Schiller. They join forces giving Big Toxic\'s
music an unrivalled visual input in their live performances.
Still toying around with the idea of Dirty Princess, Big Toxic
is motivated further by his idea when he sees the provocative video
artist Yasmin in one of her own video performances - walking stark
naked through the streets of Madrid until arriving in the middle
of a demonstration for the general strike. Yasmin, with previous
experience in two Argentine rock groups, Monte de Venus and Cherry
Mi XXX, falls head first into the toxic bunker and the band, Dirty
Princess, finally comes together and they begin to record.
They release their first record on their own label, Mad Dildo.
Entitled Jugar al Revés? Dirty Princess gets Roman Fl?ügel
do a remix. For their second release, they cover the influential
classic, Pleasure by Depeche Mode, and get a distribution deal with
Intergroove. They also collaborate on a Spanish compilation album
for Subterfuge Records and, in 2004, are declared by Spanish National
Radio as the years \'best live act\' and producers of the \'best
unreleased single\'.
The \'dirties\', considered gods of electronic body trash, recover
the decadent Roman spirit in their \'dirty parties\' and kick shit
wherever they go.
