Some possibilities of reading the work:
My studies and questions are directed by the attempt of promoting
experiences, that would go besides a thoughtful relationship between
observer and work in the field of the video-art. This work has the
intention of transporting ideas that has appeared in the 60´s
and 70´s, for the technology, which Hélio Oiticica
and Lygia Clark accomplished works exploring the interactive and
sensorial art. He also has as referencial the videoartist Sônia
Andrade who invited the public to interact with TV in one of her
works produced in the 80´s.
The break of the observer's passivity in front of the art work,
with a possible interactivity, intends to generate discussions concerning
concepts (that still persist in the contemporary art) which the
artist would be the absolute creator of the work. With a probable
activated intervention, the observer will also become integral part
of that artistic proposal.
In case it happens an interactivity, like, the TV is turned off
by the public, there is a conceptual intention that it is going
to be like that on that day. The TV would only be turned on again
by the following day, suggesting on that way a relationship with
life (turned on TV) and death (turned off TV). It creates, on that
moment, a strange sensation with the public, in case somebody enters
in a Technological Display Salão and observe a TV monitor
turned off.
I also suggest with this video-art to value the support, that is,
the television of a ludic way; implying that somebody, on that exact
moment is manipulating the remote control to adjust the television
causing out a probable curiosity in the public asking who´s
the person in subject. On the other hand, I´m questioning
the technology, asking the troubles that people find when handling
and understanding the diversity of commands that are offered for
each apparel (tv, mobile phone, digital camera, etc).
For reflection:
- Who is inside? Who is out?
- What (who) is real? What (who) is virtual?
- Who is being watched?
- In the digital era, what is the speed for the message comprehension?
