FRANCIS SUMMERS | UK

SINOPSE: 2F / 2F is a video work that lifts a section from a recent Hollywood narrative film and reworks it into a fragmented and repetitious drone. Extending virally from the original one second clip, 2F / 2F is a seven minute simulcral elongation of looping and micro-edited flips.

The original scenario, a bikini-clad woman rising from a swimming pool, is transformed into an explosive chain of machinic movements where the minimal events of lifted body, splashing water, bass soundtrack and flicked hair are discursively transformed by a strategy of sliding interruptions. In this video the sexualised signifiers of breasts, skin and hair (alongside the other affective motifs - water, colours and music) are set into a transformative play where clichéd formula becomes violently monstrous, and where the viewing experience is shifted from comfortable voyeuristic silence to disquieting self-awareness.
